More Ghostbusters Details!

Ghostbusters Game Informer cover

Who you gonna call??

I was actually just talking to someone about this a week or so ago — the Ghostbusters game that was rumored to be in the works, a story I’ve covered here in the past.

Game Informer announced that their cover story for the December issue is an exclusive about the upcoming game! I’m glad this has resurfaced and been confirmed. The best part: Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd are writing the script, and they’re also set to voice the game along with Bill Murray!

This has the potential to be fantastic.

Also, this is unrelated to that Zootfly demo I posted about before.

Update: Ernie Hudson is also voicing! SWEET!

Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol (Nintendo DS)

A few days ago — now a couple weeks ago, thanks to my delay in finishing this review —I finished Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol for the Nintendo DS. At first, I thought that Nintendo had successfully translated Chibi-Robo from the GameCube to the DS, but after a couple of days of playing Rune Factory, I realized that the DS sequel is actually quite different.

I don’t know why I didn’t see it before, but Rune Factory made it glaringly obvious: Chibi-Robo on the DS is really a simplified Harvest Moon game. The premise is that Chibi-Robos have been dispatched to run-down parks all over the world to clean them up. The player controls one of these Chibis, and must turn his assigned park green by planting flowers while doing renovations that attract additional visitors.  You grow flowers, harvest some for “happy points,” which translates to watts, the game’s currency, to buy items and improvements for your park.  As you play, you meet various discarded toys and improve your friendship with them by giving them gifts; these toys help you improve the park if you pay them.  Aside from occasional battles with villains, this gameplay model is nearly identical to Harvest Moon.  The world even cycles from day to night, but removes the added complexity of weather and seasons that is found in the Harvest Moon series.

I was impressed that the game is fully 3D, and doesn’t look bad.  Visually it’s comparable to a PS1 title.  The game is fun to play, but can get a bit repetitive.  If you’re a fan of Chib-Robo or Harvest Moon, I’d recommend checking it out.
